Extras in some folders not detected - WoodyBABL - 2023-11-29

Following the conventions in https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies/, I created a folder for Gentleman Prefer Blondes (1953).

Below that I created two subfolders: featurettes and trailers.

As you can see from the log excerpt below it scanned the folders. When I go to the movie in Jellyfin, it shows the Special Features section and below that it displays the two featurettes. However, it does not display the trailers in the trailers folder. Nit sure why.

RE: Extras in some folders not detected - Mr_Generic - 2023-12-28

I am seeing the same issue for a movie trailer folder on Windows.

F:\Jellyfin\Movies\my movie name (2017)\trailers
NOTE: These are trailers that were ripped from the DVD. The trailers themselves are for other films, not the film mentioned in the "my movie name".

I can see the movie in Jellyfin, but I don't see the trailers.

If I rename the "trailers" subdirectory to "featurettes" or "extras", I see it in Jellyfin as "Special Features".  So I know the directory structure is working, just not for "trailers".

"trailers" used to work, but I didn't note the version number I was using at the time.

I've had this exact same issue. Can anyone help?

Do the files and folders conform to the extra documentation?

https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies/#movie-extras

And does Jellyfin have permission to the files and folders for your extras?

In my case, I tested all folder names.  I created the folders with the following names, according to the documentation:

Supported folder types are:
- behind the scenes
- deleted scenes
- interviews
- scenes
- samples
- shorts
- featurettes
- clips
- other
- extras
- trailers

I confirmed the folder names that are not displayed under the movie are:
- clips
- other
- trailers

All the other folder names work fine.

This does not appear to be a permissions issue.

Please let me know if you need more information.
Hope this helps.

Can you provide some example file and folder names?

Maybe my text wasn't clear enough.

Here is a screenshot of the directory structure under the movie directory I am testing.
I added "worked" / "doesn't work" in the screenshot to show the behavior for each one.

I can easily reproduce this any movie directory.

Hope this helps,

All of those are supported extra types for both movies and shows. Is this happening across the board or just for a particular show/movie? Can you give example file names in those "not working" folders? There are some "reserved words" that sometimes cause issues.

RE: Extras in some folders not detected - Mr_Generic - 2024-03-12

Thanks again for the response.
Yes, this is across the board, not just one movie.

Here's an example:  I used the same video clip from my "Alien (1979)" DVD of an introduction by Ridley Scott.  I used the same clip to test the different folders.
Please find the directory structure with filenames below.

The only clips not visible in JellyFin are in the following directories:  clips, other, and trailers.

Hope this helps.  Please let me know if you need further information.
Thanks!
- Bob

RE: Extras in some folders not detected - TheDreadPirate - 2024-03-12

Long shot. What happens when you remove the prefix in the file name?

Instead of

clips - D01T03 - Ridley Scott Introduction.mp4

It is just

D01T03 - Ridley Scott Introduction.mp4

in the clips folder.
