RE: Introducing Jellyfin Easy Metadata Manager - darkneo86 - 2025-04-05

Can this (or anything, even a script, although I'm having trouble being successful with one?) help me edit tags for liveTV channels based on the 'group title' in the m3u?

Through the graphical interface, only metadata for files in the same folder/library is available. But starting with version 1.2.2, you can also do this by exporting and importing metadata via CSV files - this way, you can use your favorite CSV editor to edit multiple files in different folders at once.

Or does it edit the values within Jellyfin itself?

It edits the metadata and tags read by Jellyfin, not the files themselves. This is because we follow the same metadata management standard as Jellyfin.

It appears you can mass add tags and genres to Libraries and their contents, however there isn't a way to remove them in mass. Unless maybe you add all existing tags to the parent folder and hit 'Apply for folder and contents' and then remove the tags from the parent folder and hit the button again. Either way unless you have all your content separated into folders for each tag or genre you want to add it is pointless. There is no way to add or select multiple individual files to then mass edit them.

Not that I have done anything with this as I too also just get a loading icon and nothing ever happens in the program or outside of it. Which is all very sad because this is very close to what I have always dreamed of for Jellyfin metadata editing..

Right now you can do it, use the options "Export" and "Import" to generate your libraries details in a CSV file, then edit the file using your favorite text editor (like MS-Excel or Notepad++) and then import it!

I am assuming it edits the values within Jellyfin since it auto-populates with your Libraries and playlists, showing their contents as sub-folders. Could be wrong though.
