the 'path to your new drive' would be the 'mount path', the device tree path /dev/sdd* is not a mount path (it's a device tree)

if not already done make sure there is an fstab entry for the new drive, best practice is to mount by uuid so that device tree identifiers changing do not alter mounts - https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-finding-using-uuids-to-update-fstab

once you have it auto mounting to a location (mount -a or restart), typically to a path under /mnt/, then you can add that path to Jellyfin

from what i am gathering you are just opening the file explorer and now see your drive, this is not the proper way to set up a mount

You beat me to it.

Definitely this.  I mount my 3 hard drives to /media/<arbitrary_name>.  Just don't mount them to your home directory.

i actually like /storage/ but it's all preference, anyone without a preference i just recommend a normal /mnt/ so it's uniform - not even sure this is uniform any longer but it "used to be"

indeed <arbitrary_name> but for mine i actually use drive identifiers so i know which bay they are located in (coupled with a label maker it makes finding them easy Winking-face )

Thanks although I am a little confused under files it says that the drive is mounted although I need to mount it manually through the gui each time the machine restarts. I have tried following the link and I have got to "appending the line" although I am not sure if it is now permanently mounted.

Adding the drive to /etc/fstab will auto mount the drive to the location you specific on every boot.

Sorry guys really finding all of this hard to understand. Think I will give up with Linux and go down the windows route. Appreciate the help but all of this seems a bit over the top when all I want to do is to access a disc!

100% understand. Linux is super different when you actually have to do sys admin type stuff.
