I have never had this problem. Always works first try.

I updated to the latest IFWI firmware (aka vBIOS) on the a380 to the latest version using the Intel Windows driver. The vBIOS is bundled with the driver and updates automatically when you install it. There does not appear to be any way to update currently in Linux. The guc issue has been gone for a lest a week.

I think I found another problem. If the a380 card is connected to a monitor with a DP cable, if the monitor is ever disconnected from power (i.e. the power goes out or the power plug is pulled), the a380 times out and cannot reestablish a signal to the monitor. Even a sudo reboot will not fix the problem, the system needs to be powered off and on again to get it working.

The error seems to be this:

Code:
May 14 15:37:50 host kernel: i915 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* flip_done timed out
May 14 15:37:50 host kernel: i915 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* [CRTC:80:pipe A] commit wait timed out
May 14 15:38:00 host kernel: i915 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* flip_done timed out
May 14 15:38:00 host kernel: i915 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* [CONNECTOR:236:DP-1] commit wait timed out

@TheDreadPirate, we have almost identical setups and I am on 24.04 now, could you try this:

Connect your a380 to a monitor with one of the DP ports on the card and then pull the power plug from the monitor and reconnect, are you able to get video output again when the monitor powers back on?

Could you disconnect your monitor's power cable and reconnect and see if you get the video signal back? The issue seems to affect the display port not hdmi.

My jellyfin server is connected to a TV via HDMI and I don't have a DP monitor handy to move down and test.

Yeah HDMI seems stable, display port connections seem more finicky.

So you have a HDMI cable connected your a380 to a TV, what client do you use then to play content and how to you navigate the interface from the TV?

The server is headless. I only have it connected for the TV for initial OS install and configuration and BIOS updates.
