But the reward is so sweet!

Go to your server install, delete the "system" folder. Download 10.8.13 and extract it to a folder. Rename that folder and copy it into where you deleted the 10.9 system folder. Start tray.

Manually start the server use jellyfin.exe -d "path to data folder".

Trying as suggested but unsure what you mean about Manually starting the tray?

I completely removed the Jellyfin install, copied my data backup folder and re-installed 10.8.13 then had to start JF with the tray.exe. It can't find my old server at it's proper location and thinks it finds one at a different location but can't access it. So far not even able to get 10.8.13 going again.

I figures out you meant to use CMD to run the exe. I did that, had JF running and it found the data from my backup. Stopped and restarted windows and tried to launch the JF tray again and it did but wouldn't find the database. Stop and re-started and now JF won't stay running long enough to see if it found the DB. Tried the CDM start again and still won't stay running. Still working to test this out.

Follow0-up. I have JF 10.8.13 installed. I manually started the server with CMD run as admin, noting the JF data location. I ran the tray and now access the JF server as if it was May 11 when I did the back-up. How do I proceed forward to keep JF running on a stop/reboot and continue to upgrade to the last working 10.9.3?

Last time I stopped JF and rebooted I had to go through a bunch of hoops to get back to manually starting the JF server again as noted above. It wasn't automatic.

Need to add when I close the CMD window the server stops running. Trying to re-start just fails. Re-starting with CMD also fails.

Further follow-up. I upgraded to 10.9.0 and had to go through manually starting the server through CMD, leave the CMD window open and could access my existing database. As soon as I close the CMD window the server dies. I still can not start JF through the Windows tray and have it find the actual database despite it being in the default install location. Frustrated.

Further further update - upgraded to 10.9.3, which had been working previously. Now can't even get the proper server to start using CMD.  Super frustrated. MAybe these successive bug fixes are being pushed too fast and not given enough time to ensure things aren't going to break?

This release messed up a lot of my media's "Recently Added" lists and "Date added" fields

RE: New Jellyfin Server/Web release: 10.9.4 - DaveR1974 - 2024-06-03

I had Jellyfin 10.18.13 installed on my Openmediavault server (7.1.1-1 "Sandworm"), and Jellyfin for Android TV (don't know the version number, just that it was the previous) installed on my Nvidia Shield TV (2019).
This worked fine with all my content (transcoding disabled as not needed).
On updating the App to the current version (0.16.11) I got the notification to update the Jellyfin server to 10.19.0 before the next App update, which I did (first 10.19.3).
Now the App is unable to correctly play my Dolby Vision content (DV is not displayed on my TV and colour is all wrong). The files even have HDR10 fallback that is also not detected. The files all worked before the updates.
I have since updated to 10.19.4, and still the same issue.
The files all play fine via Kodi v21.0 when Kodi accesses the OMV server.
HDR only files are unaffected.
I do not know if the issue is with the App or the JF server.

Follow up...
Since seeing a reply on another thread by TheDeadPirate, I checked the logs, and now there are now "FFmpeg.Transcode" logs that were not there before.
I now cannot find the setting I had originally set to disable transcoding.

Update...
Found the settings (forgot they were under users).
For some reason, updating JF to 10.19 re-enable transcode settings for all users.
Deselected the "Allow transcoding" options. Now the files will not play at all, and I get an error that it cannot play the file, but no log.

Apologies for the delay of 10.9.x in Fedora. The 10.9.4 update has now been built and it is waiting to be synchronized to repository mirrors. If you do not wish to wait you can pull the RPM files from Koji. I have only published the 10.9.4 update for F40 and Rawhide.

I moved my issues to the troubleshooting sub here https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-recovering-server-after-failed-upgrade-attempt

Still can't get JF working "as normal" for any version.

I don't think the problem is with NextPVR or the addon.  I have noticed a few posts where for some reason users who have previously installed and disabled the NextPVR addon are seeing it re-enabled in 10.9 even when the backend wasn't configured.  This is what is leading to issues in Jellyfin.

I am on 10.9.4 and some metadata is not loading after the update. As of 10.9.3, I was also having issues with random shares not loading box art. I found that the entire process would hang on one movie that Jellyfin couldn't pull metadata for. I had a power outage on Friday and I was forced to quickly shut down my NAS before stopping Jellyfin and ended up spending hours fixing the metadata on 3 folders, so I am thinking the issue started with 10.9.3 and now is worse in 10.9.4 Also all my anime was taking like 10 min per show to update the metadata. Also clicking in the share causes Jellyfin to freeze and restart.
