Basically the bug will cause seasons to be linked to the entire show. If something deletes the season with the bug, the whole show will get deleted too.
The language in that bug report isn't exactly clear what's specifically being deleted. I've had seasons and series "disappear" before, but never have the video files themselves been deleted from the hard drive. That's what happened here. The show itself didn't actually "disappear" in my case since there's still an undeleted 'tvshow.nfo" sitting in the now empty folder. The poster and all artwork were deleted alongside everything else, so it's easy to spot the affected show(s) because the generic placeholder poster sticks out like a sore thumb when scrolling through the library in Jellyfin.
I was lucky and this only happened to 2 shows, Sealab 2021 and MLB's 20 Greatest Games. Everything else was either unaffected or simply grouped into the wrong seasons.
