Give Finamp a try. Make sure you are using the TestFlight version.

I'm pretty new to Jellyfin and just ran into the same issue with music stopping when the screen locks. At the start of this thread it sounds like there *was* a feature to mitigate this, but then the thread changed to using Finamp and a TestFlight version, at that. Does this mean the JellyFin app can't handle a locked screen on iOS and that the feature that was referenced is no longer available? I'd much rather not have to install different apps to use Jellyfin, if possible.
Anyone know if there is a way to make the iOS JellyFin app continue to play music with the locked screen? If not, is this an indication of the state of things with regards to the JellyFin iOS app?

I had my fingers crossed that this would work for me as well but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. I changed my 'Maximum number of simultaneous user sessions' parameter to 10, re-synced my Media files and reset my iOS Jellyfin app completely before re-logging and loading up a song.
My MP3s are still pausing as soon as I minimize the Jellyfin app or lock my phone. Do you think it could be a hardware limitation? I'm using an iPhone SE (2nd Gen) with iOS 18.1.1.
You need to install Finamp and use it instead of Jellyfin to play your MP3's.

I'm also pretty new to Jellyfin and was wondering the same thing. While I think I'll switch to Finamp going forward, I did some fiddling with the official Jellyfin iOS app first. In the OP, Peter says:

and this gave me a hunch to see if I could force MP3s (and other formats) to be transcoded server-side to MP4. At the very bottom of the app's Playback settings, I found two options "Always remux FLAC audio files" and "Always remux MP3 audio files". Turning those on seems, in basic testing, to allow playback to continue in the background even with the screen locked.
I suspect you might be able to make a similar workaround via the Jellyfin server settings for transcoding, but I haven't looked into that.
As an aside, I was surprised that I hadn't seen Finamp listed on https://jellyfin.org/downloads/clients/. Looking again just now, I realized that it *is*, but only once you switch from "Recommended" to "All". That "recommended" filter applied by default is not obvious!
