RE: New Jellyfin Server/Web release: 10.9.8 - jet - 2024-07-22

i just updated to 10.9.8 on my debian using .deb packages
Work from a browser, but this seems to have broken jellyfin-media-player v1.11.1 client, running on the same computer.
If i click on whatever video, i hear the audio but the video seems not to be upfront and the client app seems frozen.

you need to clear the cache of the media player. Under Windows it's under %appdata% .
Under Linux I'm not sure....

Using apt purge to uninstall, then reinstall the jf media player should help as a last resort.

thank you, i removed the desktop client cache, and it worked.
It's the first time (on 3/4 updates) i encounter such an issue, and on the other computer and tablet, it  kept working.

RE: New Jellyfin Server/Web release: 10.9.8 - KodiUser1138 - 2024-07-27

Just noticed that since updating to 10-9.8 from .3 any new movies scraped with local NFO files are being extra scraped with additional metadata I don't want. I've turned off all metadata scrapers for my movie library and refreshed the metadata for these entries but that doesn't resolve the issue. Haven't added anything new since noticing this problem but I'd like to find a solution as I use tags for specific calls for sorting, smart playlists and icons in my Kodi clients and don't need tons of unneeded tags further clogging up my library.

Also just discovered my collections are a mess. Most have all their movies removed including the XML files being updates without movie entries. Copy over a back-up xml, refresh metadata and JF still won't properly populate the collection. Frustrating as I have almost 300 collections. Still unsure why collections can't be handled like other DB programs and use certain parameters/playlists like adding anything by a Director, general name, tag etc.

I have this same problem. Workaround is if you launch the Jellyfin addon from its page in Kodi, and open the Collections folder from there. It loads slowly for some reason, but it actually seems to show all the movies in the collections.

don't use my JF collections in Kodi itself, I have custom playlists in Kodi that just.... work. My issue is in JF itself. I've created almost 300 collections, mostly for directors but then series like Star Wars and MCU and everything was working fine-ish until I did the last server update to 10.9.8 and now JF won't refresh from the XML file.

In Kodi I can use smart playlists and include things like director, title/sort title and tags of which I work to customize for all my movie entries. Now I see JF scraping random tags from some API for newly added movies and not reading only from the Kodi generate local NFO files. Things I work to keep clean and tidy are now getting messy.

RE: New Jellyfin Server/Web release: 10.9.8 - TheBetelgeuze - 2024-07-29

I'm a bit behind on updates and am still running 10.8.13, any issue just running
Code:
sudo apt update && apt upgrade
on my ubuntu server? or is there an incremental way I should be doing this?

RE: New Jellyfin Server/Web release: 10.9.8 - TheDreadPirate - 2024-07-29

Always always backup jellyfin before updating. Even if you're going from 10.9.7 to .8.

/var/lib/jellyfin
/var/cache/jellyfin (not necessary, but I've found it makes restoration smoother)
/etc/jellyfin

But making that larger of a version jump shouldn't be a problem.

Clearing everything inside of AppData\Local\Jellyfin Media Player\cache on windows worked for me! Thanks so much!
