Aww sad... I guess I will stick with 0.16.11 until there is an alternative. So many clients switching to transcoding is not viable at my use case. RE: Android TV version 0.17 - niels - 2024-08-05 The SSA/ASS support in 0.17 is the same as in 0.16. We never recommended using the LibVLC implementation because it contained many bugs (it was therefor marked as experimental). In the end it didn't make much sense to keep that experimental implementation for various reasons, which you can read more about in the pull request (https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-androidtv/pull/3639). RE: Android TV version 0.17 - gaming09 - 2024-08-05 it doesnt seem to be kicking HDR on - tested on regular jellyfin app, kicks on; jellyfind for atv doesnt, gives weird colors and shows transcoding audio vs not transcoding audio (fully directplay) in standard android app RE: Android TV version 0.17 - niels - 2024-08-05 In the app preferences, go to playback then set "Audio output" to "Direct". It defaults to "Downmix to stereo", which will force transcoding for a lot of audio codecs. Well that is technically true, but libvlc worked fine for me. So for me it feels like a downgrade. I can of cause understand that the cruft of having old/broken code around can make development harder so I scan understand the removal. No complains here. Is there any improvement for SSA/ASS on the roadmap? I have already donated, but I have no problem putting money where my mouth is and offer a bounty to improve SSA/ASS on Jellyfin. Yes, I do plan to add support for SSA/ASS with our current video player. I have a rough idea how to do it but it involves diving into some unknown territories for me (working with build tools for C and the Android NDK) so I have no ETA for that. I donate a pizza or two whenever it's ready. RE: Android TV version 0.17 - Perseverant - 2024-08-05 I've been very much looking forward to the inclusion of show/season special features and the other improvements sound like great performance/quality of life enhancements. I suspect some of the communication enhancements might help with the occasional issue I'd run into where a subtitle would not load (then load successfully on a different occasion). Thank you very much, Niels and team! RE: Android TV version 0.17 - lolish - 2024-08-06 I wish it was added Subtitle offset option on regular player. I registered just to say thanks. |
