Hey Dread,
Not a problem, I appreciate your help!

For the original piece of media, we have been looking at the other episodes in this series also have issues and they all came from the same source. I may try that remuxing, but I decided to try a few other files that have also had issues in the past and I found that they already had the video tracks listed first so that may not be THE issue, though I am curious if it could be a contributing factor.

I decided to pull the logs for these other pieces of media and have them listed below.
• Jellyfin Logs: https://pastebin.com/akEeXHXu
• Media A FFmpeg: https://pastebin.com/yndp48n8
• Media B FFmpeg: https://pastebin.com/yu8R4T8F

Both of these media files have the same issue where the audio plays, and the video is a black screen. The logs reflect this case. However, in the past for both Media A and Media B, I kept restarting the media and eventually got it to play with audio/video properly, but if I paused or fast forwarded, the media would freeze and need to be started from the beginning.

Is your TV connecting through a reverse proxy?

No this tv is connected via local lan. However, I do have a reverse proxy set up for this server, if that matters.

First, I have confirmed for all of the media which has been listed in this thread (that has issues) Jellyfin is remuxing, however for whatever reason the remuxing is going back into .mkv, which is what the original files are already in. I started going deeper into why these files are remuxing, but I can’t find anything linking them together, or proof. Somethings that might be the case though:
  • There is a disclaimer in LG’s documentation that states “Video files created by some encoders may not be played.” I have not found a comprehensive list of what video encoders are valid and which aren’t but as an example here is the encodings for the media that is listed in this thread.
  • First Media Source encoding: Lavc58.134.100 libx265
  • Media A Source encoding: Lavc60.31.102 libx265
  • Media B Source encoding: Lavc60.31.102 libx265
  • I also found that for media Jellyfin remuxes seems to default the encoding output using: Lavf60.3.100. I can not verify if this encoding version is compatible with LG, but it might not be so that could be the issue.
  • I also checked a working file (.mkv, hevc, SDR) that did not trigger the remuxing and found its encoding to be: Lavc61.3.100 libx265

I also tried disabling the “Allow video playback that requires conversion without re-encoding” option and all the media that had been remuxing entirely failed to playback. It didn’t start or play audio or anything, just gave the error message and closed.

Is there anyway to change the default encoding output used by Jellyfin to test whether a different .mkv encoding method might work better?

Negative.  The output container is negotiated with the client depending on the client settings.  But I've only seen TS or fMP4 as the output of a transcode or remux.  And TS is the default I've seen from other WebOS users posting here.
