What you said is mostly how it works yes. Once the release is visible on GitHub we start the publishing part which often takes a few days for the stores to approve and then me gradually increasing rollout and watching for any major issues. Most patch releases (where only the last digit changes) get a full rollout, 0.18.3 was a "special" one that I explicitly postponed until after new year so no new major issues would arise for people using Jellyfin during their new years festivities. That's smart thinking! The delayed rollout reduces work for both you and the users. Does Jellyfin publish any stats, like how many daily users there are, or do you just rely on download numbers? I'm curious about how many people use the app since I use it daily. A quick search and I wasn't able to locate any more details on the release process. Maybe a blog post about the process sometime this year; that includes what information on what developers can see when feedback is left on the app store? I am not sure if you answered this on reddit once. RE: jelly vers androidtv - niels - 2025-01-05 We don't have any analytics of our own but the stores do provide some information. Combining the data from the Amazon Appstore and Google Play together the Android TV app currently has about half a million active users. I did start on documentation about our release process some time ago but never finished it. To be frank, I'd rather spend my time working on the actual app instead of all the administration around it. The important part for the average user is just to "just wait". It's not like you know the release processes etc of the YouTube app etc. We're already way more open about all of it: releases are available on GitHub, I'm writing blog posts about the bigger ones, the complete build process is open-source and I occasionally share status updates on my Mastodon (https://mastodon.social/@hetisniels) and our Android development chat room (https://matrix.to/#/#jellyfin-dev-android:matrix.org).
