Yes the TV is on 5 Ghz and WiFi 802.11. The HDR10 movie still stutters, both on direct play (91.4 Mbps bitrate) and higher level transcodes (60 and 80 mbps). It does stutter a bit less than with ethernet, but it's still present. Like I said earlier my WiFi is inconsistent at best, so long term I don't know if it would be better than just using the limited speedĀ ethernet. I might just need to get a streaming box that supports Gigabit ethernet or something.

Sheesh. 91Mbps. Keep in mind that is the average. So there are probably spikes in bit rate in dynamic scenes.

The Roku 4800X, a mid-to-high end ONN TV box, and the Nvidia Shield Pro are on my short list of device recommendations.

Yeah that's my highest bitrate movie. Most of my other 4k HDR movies are around 50-70 mbps. Are those spikes in dynamic scenes the reason why stutters happen even on my 50-70 mbps movies? I would think the 100 mbps ethernet port could handle that just fine.

It isn't the network performance per-se. Most decoders have a limit to the bit rate and complexity they can decode. Those specs usually are NOT documented so my best guess is that the bit rate is just overwhelming the decoder.

Oh dang. Where do I even find out how good my TV's decoder is? I tried googling a bit and I could only find which codecs are supported, not the speed at which they decode. I'm surprised my cheap Roku can work without stutters, as I would think it would have less powerful silicon than my LG B3, which is only a couple years old.

I corrected my last post. The max supported bit rate of a SoC's decoders are usually NOT documented. The few SOCs that did provide documentation varied a lot, and varied depending on the codec. 80-100Mbps was the typical max.
