Yes hello everyone, I am a super-noob to Jellyfin (installed it yesterday) and like what I see so far.

Installed it natively on Ubuntu server, added audio library from NAS for now (video to be added in a bit after I've kicked the tyres), and have streamed via Symfonium on Android (didn't know there was a Jellyfin client until after I installed Symf lol) and on PC via browser & Jellyfin app. Audio quality & responsiveness have been great so far.

Haven't enabled external access yet, will have to see how it's going to play with my Home Assistant which is also on the same public IP w/ cert. Looking forward to that lol.

Greetings and salutations,

I've been using Jellyfin for a while now. It's just a dedicated drive in my Windows 10 desktop. It was a bit of a struggle to set up due to having the server and client on the same machine, but I'm very happy with it.

I've just gotten back into Linux. I have another small PC that I plan to put Alpine Linux on and use it as a media server. Along with Jellyfin, I plan to run an emulator to play classic arcade games.

My goal here is to learn how to optimize Jellyfin both to my system and to my tastes. Right now, it works fine. But I'm sure it could be both prettier and better organized than it is.

Hi!

I've just installed jellyfin a week ago and I'm still trying to figure out how it works, what I can do with it and what would work best for my use, so my setup is a bit of a mess.

I've been wanting a media server for a long time but I had never gotten around to doing it because setting up a server seems very intimidating when you haven't the faintest clue what you are doing, and learning to do stuff on Windows was such a massive pain for me, constantly having to fight my OS was so exhausting that I just didn't have the energy. I finally switched to linux almost a year ago (I still feel like my head is going to explode at any moment ^_^) but recently I've been bored due to tragically achieving a config I am mostly happy with (beware the bored arch user with too much time on her hands) so instead of one of the massively stupid projects I keep in mind for when I'm really bored, I thought I'd try something sensible first and to my utter amazement I got docker and jellyfin to work on my NAS.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to organize my collection for it to work well with jellyfin. It has a bit of everything : books, audio books, music, music videos, movies, series, etc.

I haven't managed to set up a remote access yet but I'm working on it. Not that it'd be any use with my crappy connection, but hey, that bastard OpenVPN started it and I can see that he's mocking me JUST YOU WAIT I'LL GET HIM >_<

Hi everyone!
I run JF in my Windows 10 PC for some months now.
I run the server via the exe, streaming to the JF Media Player on this machine and to a TV and 2 phones in my LAN.
Simple setup with a lonely 4TB Seagate spinning rust!
I learned about JF in a Linus Tech Tips video, before that i was using Universal Media Server and VLC on my phones and TV.
its very nice to have such a powerfull toll completely free to use.
I espect to improve the management of my portuguese/english library.

Hey,

I am Christophe. New to Jellyfin. Being a big fan of Kubernetes, I deployed Jellyfin for fun on a single node K8S cluster (one RPI5/8GB with 128GB NVME/SSD)

Here is the overall architecture of my deployment
  • The Media libraries are NFS shares hosted on my Synology NAS
  • The Jellyfin config folder is a directory on the PI's NVME/SSD.
  • Jellyfin is deployed on Kubernetes (k3s) ; for now a single node cluster (the Pi5)
  • Persistent volumes are defined for the media libraries and the config folder (see above). important: persistentVolumeReclaimPolicy: Retain)
  • Internal access using the Traefik reverse proxy embedded in the Kubernetes distro
  • External access: using the Synology reverse proxy + TLS termination (Synology DDNS+Lets'Encrypt wildcart cert)

I have to say I am impressed by the features of Jellyfin and the performance of the Pi5+NVMe/SSD. I will start transitioning away from Plex keeping the same architecture.  This should be pretty easy because all my data is already on the NAS (no data movement)

Greetings & Salutations!
I'm Aeon, & I started using Jellyfin several years ago after too many issues with my streaming subscriptions.

My Jellyfin server is a desktop tower that I rescued from the dumpster. The case was smashed on the side and front, but the inside was untouched. It did not boot due to a defective memory module; however that was easy to replace, as well as adding an internal drive for media and an external drive for backup. My "open air" media server has been chugging along for 2 years without any issue!

Up until now, It's been running Windows 10, however recently I decided to finally switch all my computers to linux. After much distro-hopping, I've settled on a Fedora-based distro called Ultramarine. I'm still learning the ins and outs of linux, however I couldn't be happier with my setup!

My goal is to become knowledgeable enough to help support jellyfin developement on fedora-based systems. It's high-time I give back to the open-source community on which I've depended on for so many years!

Im here to branch out a bit and try a new project, via setting up a NAS to share my media with my family. I will mostly be asking questions. Not sure how long Ill be sticking around for. I understand how to build computers, its the software and setting up raids that will be fun to learn.
