smart playlists - Yummy_rad - 2023-06-22

Welcoming myself to this new forum. Nice job moving from reddit!

I wanted to share a dream feature I have that I can't implement because I don't know how and don't have the time to learn.

I imagine a smart playlist feature integrating chatgpt API, where you could type in something like (for example "make a playlist/collection including coming of age high school comedies with IMDB ratings over 6 released between 1990 and 2020". The plugin will have all your library in its database, and will find those titles that fit that description using chatgpt and it will create the playlist/ collection automatically.

Here is a stand alone program that uses the GPT API for movie recommendations based on user prompts:
https://github.com/sinzin91/moviesGPT

Currently I find using tags very cumbersome and time consuming.
Is there anything like this in development? Does anyone have any quick ways to make playlists?

RE: smart playlists - I-G-1-1 - 2023-06-23

I agree with the smartplaylist idea: I'd like to set some rules and get autogenerated and always updated playlist. Implemented like the "iTunes smartplayst" would be great. You put some rules like: 1) media is music, 2) genre is "classic", 3) year is "2023", 4) author contains "Beethoven", 5) genre is not "Dance", 6) some othe rule.. and you get yor playlist and if you add new music to the library all the smart playlists are updated.

I really don't care about the chatGPT aspect, but I'd like to have a smartplaylist feature integrated in Jellyfin.

Hey @Yummy_rad,

Please note the pinned post in this Sub-Forum about posting here:
Please send new feature requests to Fider (jellyfin.org)

RE: smart playlists - thornbill - 2023-06-23

I moved this to the feature request sub-forum since it seemed more appropriate. I am quite sure there are a few feature requests on Fider involving smart playlists, so if you could find them and add them to your original post for reference. Thanks!

Trying to give this idea new life. Just read the following article:

Would love a plug in like that.
