Firetick App - dess4k - 2025-01-09

Hi,
I am trying to use the 0.18.4 Firestick app to connect to the demo Jellyfin server (https://demo.jellyfin.org/).
I am able to connect to it from web browser, but not from the firestick app with the following message.

Anyone else having this issue ?

I tested this, and it doesn't work—though I didn't really expect it to. Why are you trying to connect to the demo server through the Jellyfin ATV client? Tested with the correct URL below and it works.

RE: Firetick App - crobibero - 2025-01-09

The demo server is https://demo.jellyfin.org/stable

RE: Firetick App - dess4k - 2025-01-09

ok thanks guy. I am trying to figure it out why my personal jellyfin server was not reachable from internet only when I use Firestick App. It works from the google app one, the mobile phone one (android) and from web UI but not from Firestick app. To be sure that it was not coming from my side, I tried to use the demo server to check it out (to validate, or not, that the problem might comme from the firestick app)

What version of FireOS is your firestick running? Does your server use HTTPS? If so, which reverse proxy are you using and which key type is it? RSA or ECDSA?

RE: Firetick App - dess4k - 2025-01-09

My server is behind a reverse proxy on a NAS synology (embedded one) using a let's encrypt generated certificate.
The Firestick app version is the latest one available aka 0.18.4.
Dont know the FireOS version, but should be the latest

RE: Firetick App - TheDreadPirate - 2025-01-09

I am pretty sure Synology uses Nginx. Are you able to see the configuration for the proxy?

RE: Firetick App - dess4k - 2025-01-10

yep, I did the configuration from the DSM UI.
Just rooting 443 to internal HTTP jelly server port.
What should I look for ?

RE: Firetick App - TheDreadPirate - 2025-01-10

Does the UI give you any options regarding which certificate chains it provides to the client? Some clients that haven't received security updates in a while will have issues with newer Let's Encrypt certificates since they don't trust some of their newer certificate authorities (due to not receiving security updates).

If you have the option to provide the full certificate chain may help.

RE: Firetick App - dess4k - 2025-01-10

What I did is "simply" install the Lets' encrypt certificat in the NAS with *.mydomain.com (RSA/ECC)
and associate it to be used for jelly.mydomain.com
Then I configured the reverse proxy to route https to the internal jelly http port and route, from my routeur, 443 port to my NAS internal IP.
This works fine from any browser outside from my network, from google chromecast with googleTV, Jelly app installed on phone (android) but not from firestick.
Problem should come from my conf somewhere (or maybe from the fireOS version, I need to check is there is any updates) as I tried again to connect from the Firestick to the demo Jellyfin instance successfully (https://demo.jellyfin.org/stable).

I am a bit lost ....
