HDR on non HDR device - Bram Peeters (Brammeleuris) - 2025-01-16 I have a problem where if i try and watch HDR content on my non HDR monitor it looks like it's just forcing the HDR content. The content is too dark. And the colours are off. I would expect Jellyfin to start a transcode to set the bitdepth to SDR and tonemap the content to match. Is there any way to do this? Hardware acceleration is on. using NVENC and tonemapping is enabled. When setting the bitrate ridiculously low i can force a transcode. And de colours look better. But that just seems stupid. And help would be greatly appreciated RE: HDR on non HDR device - TheDreadPirate - 2025-01-16 What kind of HDR and which client are you using? I have the same issue when I watch HDR10 AV1 files in a browser. No transcoding is triggered because the client "supports" the codec. I don't recall seeing supported color spaces in the playback profiles communicated between the client and server. If you are on a PC, you could use Jellyfin Media Player. Which will locally tone map HDR content. |
