Local network connection from android fails - Shironats - 2025-01-18
I have a jellyfin server set up on my windows 10 PC, and I am trying to connect to it from my android phone which is connected to the same wi-fi network.
It used to be that I could connect after the PC has been running for a few minutes, presumably to "start up" the connection port. Now though, I can't seem to connect to it no matter how long it's been.
I have the network set to a private network on the server machine, and of the 4 firewall rules for jellyfin I see, I've enabled the rules for the private networks. The server is currently on version 10.10.3.

Are you able to ping the server from another device on the network (e.g., laptop or via Termux or another terminal emulator on your mobile device)? Is your Windows machine running DHCP rather than using a reserved IP address?

My Windows machine is always on 192.168.0.34, and I tried using ConnectBot to ping it but all the requests came back as "Destination Host Unreachable".
I'm not too tech savvy when it comes to networking so I appreciate the help.

Click Start > type Resource Monitor > click on the Network tab > Expand the Listening Ports table > find jellyfin.exe on port 8096. What does it say in the Firewall status column?
Also, can you share your jellyfin logs via privatebin.net?

The Firewall status column shows "Allowed, restricted".
Here's the jellyfin logs with my library directories changed. I restarted the server several times so it might repeat.

UPDATE: It's currently working but I have no idea what's changed since the previous days where I've tried tinkering with stuff and nothing worked.

"Allowed, restricted" indicates that the firewall rule was not properly set. Should be "Allowed, unrestricted".
Can't say what fixed it, but something regarding your network adapter perhaps not being set to "private"?
