Insecure connection - Wellman - 2025-01-27 Hi, I'm very new to servers and this sort of thing. I've set up Jellyfin on my Synology NAS and added some of my media already. When I go to add a user so members of my household can access it on their firesticks I see this message I've attached. How necessary is it to secure my Jellyfin server with HTTPS? The data on my NAS is encrypted but the Jellyfin server probably isn't. I don't want people outside of my household to access the server for now, but if I do will I need to change anything if I eventually do? Thank you. RE: Insecure connection - bitmap - 2025-01-28 If your Jellyfin server isn't accessible outside your network by port forwarding or proxy, HTTPS isn't particularly necessary. I use RP outside my home, but in my home HTTP still functions. |
