SATA SSD Storage - DeanoVIP - 2025-01-29

Just curious if others use SATA 2.5" drives for their media storage, is there any benefits?  I've basically split my media onto different drives and often a 4TB drive would be plenty for that category, and prices for a 4TB SSD aren't too bad either.

Obviously bulk media I'll still store on larger mechanical drives but i'm looking at ways to optimise Jellyfin and organising my storage.

Management-wise? Sure. The speeds you can get are definitely an increase over spinning drives. Might have a tiny bit snappier performance overall, but there's no benefit in media playback. Spinning drives should last longer on average and do the job just fine. Once they're full or stable, it's all reads at 1x.
