New used PC for jellyfin - Steven Utt - 2025-02-11 Hello, I currently am running Jellyfin on my gaming PC, I and most importantly my wife have really been enjoying it. She's given me the go ahead to purchase a PC to dedicate as a Jellyfin server I've been looking at various sources and a used PC from eBay and throwing in a low profile ARC 310 GPU seems like it would be a good fit for me. The used Pc I am looking at is a Dell OptiPlex 5070 SFF i7-8700 32GB RAM 512G SSD+4TB HDD Win10 My primary workload for this would be to have a Jellyfin server up with up to 5 different people streaming at once. Is this feasible with the PC and GPU selected? To add more storage, is an external HHD connected via USB going to be quick enough? RE: New used PC for jellyfin - WoodenBleachers - 2025-02-11 I am by no means the most experienced, but I have had a lot of luck with the HP Slim S01-pF2033w I purchased off eBay for $200 after tax and shipping. I do not have a dGPU in it because I only have 1-2 streams with maybe 1 with transcoding. The iGPU of the 12100 is plenty for me. It's quiet and I got an HBA card for future expansions. RE: New used PC for jellyfin - Mcrevilll - 2025-06-02 I use a similar OptiPlex as my Jellyfin box and it's been rock solid. USB external drives work okay for adding storageāI run a 10TB that way for older movies. Just avoid streaming super high bitrates off USB during peak use. RE: New used PC for jellyfin - Mr at - 2025-06-05 Yes, thats fine. I use a Raspberry Pi 5, with a NVMe Hat and a few USB 3 4TB SSD's. Works for 4 of us in the house on it at the same time. |
