Passthrough of Hi Res FLAC file playback? - Simmo - 2025-02-12 Hi all, Does anyone know if when one is playing music through a compatible receiver, does Jellyfin passthrough the audio to the receiver (i.e. bit perfect passthrough)? More details: I've got Jellyfin set up on my Ubuntu NAS, the client is the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. Latest versions of Jellyfin, Nvidia firmware etc are installed. The Shield is connected via HDMI 2.1 to a Samsung Q950a receiver. The Shield is set up for passthrough of all audio formats and Jellyfin is set to "Direct" mode (which I guess is passthrough as Passthrough isnt an option?). I have a collection of 192khz 24bit Stereo FLAC music which I'd like to play without any conversion to the receiver. The receiver, unfortunately, does not display which format is being received; so I cant use that to determine Many Thanks RE: Passthrough of Hi Res FLAC file playback? - TheDreadPirate - 2025-02-12 I'm not aware of any Jellyfin client allowing FLAC to be passed through. Jellyfin would decode to PCM before outputting to whatever device is connected. So it would still be in the original sample rate and bit depth, just PCM. RE: Passthrough of Hi Res FLAC file playback? - Simmo - 2025-02-12 cheers ; thought that might be the case 👍 |
