Updating Jellyfin - baileymb124 - 2025-02-12 Hi all, I've been at this for about 6 months now and have amassed a nice collection of content on my Jellyfin server. It works great and my family and I love it! Until now, I have been ignoring version upgrades because I didn't want to take the time to figure it out. Now that I am several versions behind, I think I should probably get caught up. So, a few questions: 1) On every update release announcement, I see something that says, "be sure to do a full backup before updating." What does a "full update" entail? Is that a manual process? What exactly do I need to be sure and save a copy of? 2) After I have completed the backup, how do you actually perform the update? Do you just install the new version over top of the current install? 3) Hopefully I won't need this one but, if things go sideways and I have to revert to the previous backup, what the process? Thanks in advance for your advice. ----- Windows Server 2022 Standard 21H2 Jellyfin Server version 10.9.9 Jellyfin Web version 10.9.9 Jellyfin Build version 10.9.9 RE: Updating Jellyfin - TheDreadPirate - 2025-02-12 Your Jellyfin permanent data should be in C:\ProgramData\Jellyfin (ProgramDATA not Program Files). You would simply make a copy of that directory before performing any upgrades. You'd download the latest installer and run it. If the upgrade goes sideways, you'd uninstall Jellyfin completely, download the installer for the original version and install that instead of the latest. Your signature says 10.9.9, the download for that is located here. https://repo.jellyfin.org/archive/server/windows/stable/v10.9.9/amd64/ After reinstalling 10.9.9 you would restore C:\ProgramData\Jellyfin from the copy you made earlier.
