Play/Transcoding issue - TheSainted1 - 2025-02-22 I have Jellyfin server 10.10.6 running on Win11 Everything works except I'm getting errors when trying to play a lot of 4K movies now that used to play in the JF native app on the Android devices. Seems to have started in 10.10.5 Same issues crops up on Sony Bravia X90 with JF for Android TV client GoogleTV streamer Onn 4K Streaming Device Server Specs Ryzen 5 3400g / 32GB Ram / separate SSD for Transcoding vs JF Installation Attached a log of one , starts for about 30 seconds, and in the Dashboard I can see Transcoding due to Audio issues but these used to play no problem before. HW Transcoding is set to None. Anyone help in helping me decipher the issue? RE: Play/Transcoding issue - TheDreadPirate - 2025-02-22 This is a known issue with Dolby Vision and our Android TV app. There is a potential fix in the pipeline, but no ETA. The workaround is to lower the max bit rate so that it forces video transcoding (you are currently only transcoding the audio) or converting Dolby Vision 7 and 8 videos to HDR10. https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-converting-dolby-vision-to-hdr10 RE: Play/Transcoding issue - TheSainted1 - 2025-02-22 What setting to lower the max bit rate do I change? RE: Play/Transcoding issue - TheDreadPirate - 2025-02-22 In the Android TV app, on the home screen click on the gear in the top right and go into the Playback menu. There is a setting to set the max bit rate allowed. Any videos with a higher bit rate than what you select will trigger the server to transcode the video, which also converts the video to SDR. Normally I'd suggest you change the bit rate during playback but, IIRC, this issue causes the player to crash before you'd be able to do that. |
