Can't 'Split' versions of movie if the movie title is one word - hornakapopolis - 2025-02-25 I've tried searching for this and can't find anything, but the search terms are pretty generic and are bringing up a lot. So, my apologies if I'm missing something. It seems that if I have multiple versions of a movie, I can't split them apart if the movie title only has one word. So, I can split my versions of 'The Addams Family;' 'Alien 3;' and 'Alien: Resurrection,' but not 'Alien;' 'Alexander;' and 'Superman.' The icon isn't there when I go into the movie and it doesn't expand in the 'Metadata Manager,' either. They show as a single movie. Is there a work around for this? My plan now is to go in, identify the movie as a different one, split it, and then re-identify it, but I really hope I don't have to do that each time. It took a little while to notice that it was only single word titles with this issue. I'm migrating from Plex and just setting up my libraries, so anything that will speed up the process of getting everything how we're all use to it would be great. Would appreciate the help! edit: Thought I'd add that Jellyfin is showing the # on the poster and showing the different versions to view. You just can't split them. edit #2: Well, changing it to something else doesn't work. I changed Alexander to Julian Po and, while it changed all of the metadata, it still won't let me split the movies apart. The Merge Versions plug-in doesn't seem to do anything, either. RE: Can't 'Split' versions of movie if the movie title is one word - theguymadmax - 2025-02-25 How are the folder and files named for a movie that has multiple versions? RE: Can't 'Split' versions of movie if the movie title is one word - hornakapopolis - 2025-02-25 The ones that show the split options and the ones that don't are all named following the same format. .../Movies/Alien (1979)/Alien (1979) [Director's Cut].mkv .../Movies/Alien (1979)/Alien (1979) [Theatrical].mkv .../Movies/Alien Resurrection (1997)/Alien Resurrection (1997) [Special Edition].mkv .../Movies/Alien Resurrection (1997)/Alien Resurrection (1997) [Theatrical].mkv RE: Can't 'Split' versions of movie if the movie title is one word - TheDreadPirate - 2025-02-25 You can try adding the TMDB ID to each folder. Code: .../Movies/Alien (1979) [tmdbid-348]/Alien (1979) [tmdbid-348] - Director's Cut.mkv This is how I would name them. Jellyfin allows you to have multiple versions of a movie, which is automatically triggered based on a specific naming scheme. This behavior works independently of any plugins. The naming format must follow a particular structure: the movie name should be identical to the folder name, followed by a dash (-), and then any additional text. For example: Movie (2000) --Movie (2000) - Best Movie Ever --Movie (2000) - Best Movie Ever Really Long Version You have found an exception where using square brackets [] instead of a dash also triggers this feature. To avoid triggering the multiple versions feature, simply remove the brackets or replace them with parentheses () and the movies will no longer be treated as multiple versions. But it did work for you? RE: Can't 'Split' versions of movie if the movie title is one word - hornakapopolis - 2025-02-25 (2025-02-25, 02:57 PM)theguymadmax Wrote:This did it. Thank you! I'm migrating from Plex and have a somewhat large library, so I'll probably only remove the brackets for the single word titles for now. Like I said before, it's hard to word this in a way that doesn't bring up the typical 'multiple versions' questions. Do you know if this is this a known issue? It presents itself oddly and, if it hadn't been for having 'Alexander,' 'Alien,' & 'Aliens' so close to each other alphabetically and with the other Alien movies splitting fine, I don't think I would have noticed the 'single word' detail.(2025-02-25, 08:09 AM)hornakapopolis Wrote: The ones that show the split options and the ones that don't are all named following the same format. Regardless, I do appreciate the knowledge and help! |
