Why is HEVC off by default when HEVC 10-bit is on? - _Nick - 2025-03-03 Hi, As title says: Under Playback > Transcoding, when changing hardware encoding from none to NVENC :I noticed that the defaults (already checked) include HEVC 10-bit but not just HEVC as display on the screenshot below.HEVC 10bit HEVC HEVC 10bit10bitHEVC 10bitIs there any reason why HEVC 10-bit is checked by default but not just HEVC ?Thanks, Nick. Postscript I'm a stickler for defaults and minimalism unless an official recommendation suggests otherwise. This always minimises troubleshooting and future issues. RE: Why is HEVC off by default when HEVC 10-bit is on? - Efficient_Good_5784 - 2025-03-03 My understanding is that the default settings don't mean much. You need to consult with Nvidia's developer page and enable the decode/encode codecs that your GPU supports. https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-and-decode-gpu-support-matrix-new |
