Can't play 4k movies -- is my hardware strong enough? - CelianGdfrd - 2025-03-04 I'm running Jellyfin on a dedicated server that has Intel Xeon-D 1521 (4c/8t - 2.4 GHz/2.7 GHz), 16 Go ECC 2133 MHz RAM, I have optical fiber, and still, when I want to play a 4k video, htop shows a transcoder at 750% CPÜ usage and the movie buffers every 20 seconds. I'm not sure what to do. Should I give up on 4k ? Is there a server tweaking I should do ? Thank you very much by advance ! RE: Can't play 4k movies -- is my hardware strong enough? - Efficient_Good_5784 - 2025-03-04 The CPU you're using doesn't have an iGPU, so any transcoding needs to be done with the CPU cores. The CPU is old at this point. It won't do well with transcoding 4K content smoothly. |
