Player Error on movies that previously run flawless - grobalt - 2025-03-05
Hi,
a friend of mine and me are using shield pro as player with Jellyfin for about 1.5 years. Our whole movie collection was working well .. since a few days - or weeks - some movies cause a player error. Nothing changed. Jellyfin on NAS is Unraid .. tried 7.0.1 , 7.0.0 and 6.9.15 - unraid does not seem to be the issue, nothing changed.
On the shield the error was before upgrading to 9.2 and after, nothing changed here.

tried 3 shields, 2 unraid servers ... so it is not a single device related issue
deactivating transcoding did not help
any idea ?

i downgraded to 10.10.0 - no change .. below is not possible on server side as nvidia shield app requires minimum version 10.10. on server side

as said, all played well before .. John Wick for example is used every few weeks to test and adjust base
therefore we know that clip was playing flawless multiple times in the past without any modification. but i can checkall 4 john wick are Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 7.6 ... one is playing, 3 are not

no difference of direct and downmix to stereo .. standard is direct as AVR are behind the players

In my experience, DTS HD playback on Android TV can be quite finicky and often leads to various issues. A workaround is to navigate to the preferences, open developer options, and enable the "Prefer FFmpeg for audio playback" setting.

Small Update
Shield and Firetv .. at home and at a friend (other devices, not mine)... same movies, same issues.
His daughter has an apple tv with jellyfin .. flawless playback of all
i launched Kodi on my shield .. flawless playback.
I checked the files with OrcasMKVFix and nothing changed.
So we have a Android Jellyfin that is not working.
