JF adding image from unknown location to multiple music files - _Mayhem_ - 2025-03-08 This honestly has been happening for a while and finally annoyed me enough to ask about this. I have no idea where this image is coming from nor why it's being repeated across multiple albums/artists/songs. Is there some way to figure that out without my having to dig through multiple GB of media and remove it completely? Using a Windows app called mp3tag and looking at one of the songs, this image is NOT embedded in the file. Clicking on the Musicbrainz link shows a different image. This isn't just happening for this one artist. https://imgur.com/a/RMftEqP RE: JF adding image from unknown location to multiple music files - dreamon - 2025-03-08 can you try refreshing metadata by disabling all online sources including musicbrainz? before the refresh, make sure from the library options that the local embedded metadata will be used. if you don't use any online sources, the albums should show up in your preferred way. i only use local metadata (i embed the metadata with mp3tag by myself) and never encountered this issue. i have the metadata sources disabled for the music library, don't rely on them. you might want to test a new library featuring the problematic albums with online sources disabled as well. see if the problem occurs. RE: JF adding image from unknown location to multiple music files - _Mayhem_ - 2025-03-08 I think I did this right. As admin: Dashboard > Libraries > Libraries > Music > hamburger menu > Manage Library > disabled: TheAudioDB MusicBrainz Set Automatically refresh metadata from the internet: Never Removed any checkboxes for TheAudioDB Enabled Image Extractor, Embedded Image Extractor and Save artwork into media folders. I did a full library refresh, replacing the metadata and images. Still see the same thing. RE: JF adding image from unknown location to multiple music files - TheDreadPirate - 2025-03-09 Another user that used mp3tag had issues with incorrect images. Can you try using Musicbrainz's Picard app to tag your music? That is the app many of us use to tag our music, including embedding images, with consistently good results. I haven't had any issues with mp3tag messing up the embedded images but did have it trash the album and artist info on an album. Edit: Picard shows no embedded image, so for some reason the server is associating the image with some songs/albums that don't have an associated image. Not every song or album without an image does this, as there are plenty showing just a generic music note on the songs or a disc for the images. RE: JF adding image from unknown location to multiple music files - _Mayhem_ - 2025-04-26 More on this (because it's still happening, but now it's using an image for the band Ministry): I downloaded a program for Windows called MediaInfo and pointed it at one of the album folders where this is happening. That app correctly identifies the artist, album, etc but for whatever reason, the scraper that is supposed to grab the appropriate image(s) for JF just pulls whatever. I did notice that the tool created a file called album.nfo in the album folder and when I told JF to replace all metadata/replace existing/trickplace images, the correct album art appeared. I attempted to get this to repeat by pointing it at the artist-level folder and while it did create similar files in each album directory, a similar refresh hasn't worked 100%. But I may not have waited long enough. I cannot tell as there's no indicator that this refresh is still happening. RE: JF adding image from unknown location to multiple music files - Josh T - 2025-05-08 Did you ever get this fixed? Navidrome doesn't have this problem but for the life of me I can't get sort by date added working on it. Trying to get the best of both worlds is gonna be harder than I thought. |
