Trouble playing local trailers in Kodi - Beam Stream - 2025-03-11 Hi all, I am having trouble playing local trailers in Kodi. I grew tired of the youtube app in kodi constantly breaking, so I looked for an alternative route and discovered trailarr. I have now set up trailarr and have local trailers for most of my movies and shows. The first thing I had to do was get the trailer .nfo's updated to show local trailers. All of my NFO's were <trailer>plugin: //plugin.video.youtube/?action=play_video&videoid=Qy5****</trailer> and from my understanding I had to change them to <trailer>I: /TV Shows/Family Guy/Family Guy-trailer.mkv</trailer> I have a LOT of media so I had the AI make me a script to do it for me. Once that was done I noticed for the shows jellyfin was turning them back into youtube trailer links. I'm not really sure what in jellyfin is doing it. I narrowed it down to the TheMovieDB as a suspect so I unticked it under Libraries --> Shows. The trailers work fine from inside the jellyfin browser although I cant see any way to indicate where it is playing from (Youtube or local). I then went to Kodi with a disabled youtube addon and tried to play a movie trailer and it works perfectly (Playing local trailer) But for some strange reason the shows dont see the trailer. There is no trailer button there. Does anyone have any experience in this or know whats gone wrong? RE: Trouble playing local trailers in Kodi - KodiUser1138 - 2025-03-12 Not entierly certain what process you are following but I came to JF from Kodi, which is still my main client, and have manually currated my entire library. If you want 1 trailer per entry, let's use a movie, you can put that trailer in the same folder as the movie, NFO and art, just names "Movie NameHere"-trailer.xxx. Then the metadat will automatically scrape THAT trailer as the "link" for that perticular movie and you can then go back to Kodi as a JF client and if the skin you are using supports trailer, boom it plays. If you want additional trailers I just use the Extras folder which works pushed forward to Kodi but only in Native (direct path) mode. Haven't seen a work-around for that but in Jellyfin itself that folder will be seen and the contents playable. It's how I've done my setup and it works pretty well. If you are wanting trailrs for TB shows that's a seperate thing and likely more related to the Kodi skin implementation for TV Shows rather than a JF issue. I don't have a trailer button for TV shows in my custom Kodi skin, specifically, and any trailers I do have for TV shows just go into an Extras folder for that specific show. |
