add IMDB as scraper to Music Videos - floris - 2025-03-13
Please add IMDB as metadata scraper to music video libraries. (similar to movie libraries in which multiple scrapers are used: imdb, theMovieDb, etc)
Based on IMVDB my music video library can not find even one video! Imdb gets most - but also not all.
My Music Video library has the following videos. Most have hits in IMDB and not in IMVDB:
- Queen - Live at Wembley '86 (IMDB: tt0158874 - IMVDB: zero)
- Richard Pryor live in concert 1979 (IMDB: tt0079807 - IMVDB: zero)
- U2 - 360 degrees at the Rose Bowl (IMDB: tt1694546 - IMVDB: zero)
- Peter and the Wolf (2006) oscar winner! (IMDB: tt0863136 - IMVDB: zero)
- Herman Finkers - Carnaval der dieren (1993) (IMDB: zero - IMVDB: zero)
- Pink Floyd - Pulse live at Earls Court (IMDB: tt0110758 - IMVDB: zero)
- Neujahrskonzert der Wiener Philharmoniker 2002 (IMDB: tt0441394 - IMVDB: zero)
- Ibiza Summer Mix 2017 🌱 Best Summer Hits 🌱 Best Of Remixes Deep House 2017 ( IMDB: 0 - IMVDB: zero - youtu.be:he0RTjNf5Kk)
- Beethoven - Symphony 6 in F major Op68 Pastoral (Thielemann) ( IMDB: 0 - IMVDB: 0 - youtu.be: CpMIsPfjK-Y)
- Beethoven - Symphony 9 in D minor Op125 Choral (Thielemann) ( IMDB: 0 - IMVDB: 0 - youtu.be: 0)
Overall score out of 10 music videos: IMDB 6, IMVDB 0, Youtube: 2). Why even bother with IMVDB? It does not even list oscar winning music videos.
I would say the greatness of these artists (Queen, U2,Pink Floyd, Wiener Philharmonic, etc) plead the case for adding IMDB as a metadata scraper for the music video library.

IMDB does not have a free and publicly accessible API for scraping metadata of any kind. Their API cost is prohibitively expensive.

If you are willing to spend some time collecting metadata for your music videos, then I can advise you to use the Stash application. This application has plugins for collecting data from YouTube and imdb. You can search by name or immediately provide a link to the desired clip.
This app has a plugin for jellyfin. As a result, you can get a section with music videos that will have metadata that you have collected and verified yourself.
