Movie Versioning - Naming conventions - johnson - 2025-03-14

I have two versions of Superman (1978). I have the theatrical cut and I also have the extended cut. I'm trying to make JF see these as 2 versions of the same movie, but instead, it is saying I have superman twice under seperate listings. My current setup is:

1. /movies/Superman (1978) [tmdbid-1924]/Superman (1978) - [1080p].mkv
2. /movies/Superman (1978) [tmdbid-1924]/Superman (1978) - [Extended Cut].mkv

These movies are in the same folder but my naming above is not working. What do you suggest I change so that Jellyfin recognizes these as two versions of the same movie and lists them under one title?

Thanks!

You're not using the correct naming structure for Jellyfin to recognize it as a multiple version. See here: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies/#multiple-versions-of-a-movie

The prefix has to be an exact match of the folder name for the versioning to work, that includes any media provider identifiers such as [tmdbid-1924]

Thanks! I didn't realize that it had to be an exact match of the folder name. TIL.
