Jellyfin often mis-identifies things that are similarly named for me - Gorf - 2025-03-21 I'm wondering if this is just my installation/configuration or not. I'll give you two good examples: /media/tv/Avatar - The Last Airbender (2024) /media/tv/Avatar - The Last Airbender (2005) Identified both as: The Last Airbender (2005) and /media/tv/Doctor Who (2005) /media/tv/Doctor Who (2023) Identified both as: Doctor Who: Video Commentaries (2023) I'm willing to give a little leeway on the Dr Who one because frankly the whole of the series on TheMovieDB is a cluttered mess. But the Avatar one surprised me. The naming is correct, the dates are correct but it still got it wrong. Ok, I admit I am comparing this against my parallel Plex install. I haven't quite gotten everyone off it. haha. But, it did catch all those and other correctly. So I guess I'm wondering, is this just normal for Jellyfin? Or are there tunables that I ought to be setting? My configuration is bone stock out of the box, err... or out of the Container? It just has TheMovieDB as it's primary and The Open Movie DB as it's secondary. Anyway, thanks for any insight anyone has! RE: Jellyfin often mis-identifies things that are similarly named for me - theguymadmax - 2025-03-21 Yeah, the detection isn't the best. That's why I use tinyMediaManager to generate NFO files, which Jellyfin can read. If you'd rather not go that route, a good alternative is to append the TMDB ID to the folder name. Ex: Doctor Who - 2005 [tmdbid-57243] You could also try downloading TheTVDb plugin and setting it as the default metadata provider to see if that gives you better results. RE: Jellyfin often mis-identifies things that are similarly named for me - TheDreadPirate - 2025-03-21 To add to theguymadmax's comment, since I've started including TMDB ID's in the folder name, zero mis-identified shows/movies. Day and night difference. |
