Need to move from Windows to Linux for better AMD support. What are my hosting option - CancerousOrdo - 2025-03-23 I'm currently hosting my first Jellyfin server in Windows on my laptop, a 2022 Asus Zephyrus G14 with AMD CPU and GPU. I plan to start proper home server and NAS, but I won't be able to start that project for several months. Until then, I'd like to move to Linux so I use some actual hardware decoding. Is dual-booting Linux and hosting Jellyfin there the only way I'll be able to fully utilize my GPU on this machine, or are there virtualization options that will work with VA-API? RE: Need to move from Windows to Linux for better AMD support. What are my hosting option - TheDreadPirate - 2025-03-23 You should be able to use hardware acceleration in Windows. What did you select in the transcoding screen? For Windows you should be selecting AMD AMF. What model CPU/GPU does your laptop have? And what boxes did you check in the transcoding config page? |
