Jellyfin on Android TV vs web – best way to watch? - fipii - 2025-03-25 Hi, I'm new to the forum and my English isn't very good, but I hope you'll understand what I mean. I wanted to ask how you watch content from your own servers. I always thought that the main purpose of such servers was to have an app on a TV and watch movies that way. However, I see that in the case of a Jellyfin server, the Android TV app is quite weak and significantly inferior to web-based solutions, where you can customize the appearance with skins. Maybe I don't fully understand the idea behind Jellyfin—are there better ways to watch your own movies? RE: Jellyfin on Android TV vs web – best way to watch? - TheDreadPirate - 2025-03-25 Weak is probably not the right word to describe the Android TV app. Yes, it lacks customizability (for now), but it is a native client with a TV centric UI design. Since the customization in the web UI is CSS based, obviously you cannot apply that to a native Android app. I have 2 Android TV clients and a Roku client. My friends and family have a mis-mash of Android TV and Roku clients, in addition to all of us having Android phones. Many ways to watch. |
