Moving from Plex - a few questions - dgparryuk - 2025-04-02 Hi Guys Moving over from Plex (with the not allowing streaming outside the home network and both my kids like to watch things on their tablets), so just trying to get things all together how I like it. 1) I created a collection of 10 programs, including Andy's Safari Adventures, Andy's Aquatic Adventures, Andy's Dinosaur Adventures, and others. Now it hasn't grouped them, it's just left them as they are in the Library and created a new Library called "Collections" - did i do something wrong? 2) In Plex i had set up a dynamic playlist of all the Star Trek series that i was watching in order, i've seen you can't do dynamic playlists yet, but is there an easy way to create a playlist in date order eg Star Trek TNG, DS9 & Voyager all intertwined - i don't mind using outside plugins, programs etc to accomplish this 3) and other than my inability to get the plugin working on kodi on a Raspberry Pi (we have 3 of them around the house on non-smart TV's) but i thinkt thats just me needing a bit more time RE: Moving from Plex - a few questions - TheDreadPirate - 2025-04-02 1. Go to Dashboard > Libraries > Display. Check "Group movies into collections". However, this grouping does not happen with TV shows. You'd have to navigate to the collections "library" for TV show groups. 2. Other than manually creating the playlist, I am not aware of a plugin or external app to do this. You can add an entire series to a playlist in one go. From my testing, it appears that it does add the episodes of the series in order. However, if you're talking about in-universe "Star Date" order of those three Star Treks, that would require a lot of manual work. If you're talking about AIRING date, I'm not aware of a playlist sorting function in Jellyfin for air date. 3. Which plugin are you attempting to use? Jellycon or Jellyfin for Kodi? Are you having issues getting it installed or just getting it to work? RE: Moving from Plex - a few questions - dgparryuk - 2025-04-03 Hi, yeah, you've answered the first two questions. I was hoping it would group them in the TV section, but I can live with that. The second question was aired order, for example (episode & dates made up off the top of my head) DS9 - S06E01 - 29/11/1999 VOY - S01E01 - 30/11/1999 DS9 - S06E02 - 01/12/1999 I know there aren't any real crossovers in Star Trek, but there are a few other TV series, ie CSI/NCIS/Chicago/Buffy&Angel. the third is more me just trying to figure my way around it, i've installed both jellycon & jellyfin for kodi (and can't remember which one is which), to see which works best i have 2 TV sections, but only added the Kids TV section while testing and one plugin added it to TV Shows, so not sure what will happen when i add the adult section. And the other one, I had to do quite a few clicks before I got to see the list of programs, I'd hope it would just load and show me - TV - Kids TV - Adults the same as the webpage :-D RE: Moving from Plex - a few questions - TheDreadPirate - 2025-04-03 I can't help regarding Kodi. I tried using Kodi a while ago and did not like it. For the record, I used Jellycon and I think that is the one that requires "extra clicks" to get to the content. |
