Jellyfin and books' .opf metadata - flymetothemoon - 2025-04-04 Hey there! I have been using calibre to sort some books, to have proper metadata, it automatically puts each book in a folder with cover picture and metadata.opf. It makes is really easy to customize each book and also I read that jellyfin can read this .opf metadata. But when I put the books in jellyfin it only detects the pdf file and the picture in the folder, it's like it doesn't detect the .opf metadata. The names of the books are the file name and not the name in the .opf file, there is no descriptions, not authors etc. Is that how it's supposed to work? I'm confused. What am I missing? I can use the plugin bookshelf and it can find some of the books on google books but not all of them, especially like some obscure ones. So it would be nice to have the calibre metadata works so I don't have to identify books. Any options that must be enabled to make it work? RE: Jellyfin and books' .opf metadata - TheDreadPirate - 2025-04-04 Books and audiobooks in Jellyfin are known pain points. Both for online metadata, local metadata, and just playing/reading them. If books or audiobooks are important to you, Calibre and AudioBookShelf are my recommendations. RE: Jellyfin and books' .opf metadata - flymetothemoon - 2025-04-05 Uhm..... Jellyfin suddenly started reading the .opf files so all books show rating now, description, author... The metadata I fetched with calibre. Weird ![]() |
