Local Subtitle Download - BlueberryJelly - 2025-04-07 I have my movies on a local NAS along with their respective subtitles. For some reason, they do not download when the movies does. The .srt has the same filename as the movie. Under edit subtitles, the information says, "undefined - SUBRIP - External" then the complete path to the subtitle. The movie downloads when I select Download, but the subtitle does not. I looked in the download directory and it is not there. I've tried this a few times. Does this work as my expectations? RE: Local Subtitle Download - TheDreadPirate - 2025-04-08 When you say "download" I'm assuming you mean you are actually downloading the file to your client device's local storage, correct? AFAIK, there is no way to pull down external subtitles when downloading media. RE: Local Subtitle Download - BlueberryJelly - 2025-04-08 Correct. Download to my tablet in this case. So by external, you mean subtitles on a local NAS in the same folder as the movie are not downloadable at the same time downloading the movie? IE. I would need to copy them down manually to the download folder, is that it? RE: Local Subtitle Download - TheDreadPirate - 2025-04-08 Yes. If the subtitles are separate files from the movie, you would need to download them with a separate tool. Embedded subs are, obviously, part of the file. If your tablet is an Android tablet, you should take a look at Findroid. It has an offline mode and can download files. I'd be curious if it has a more intelligent downloader and will grab the subs. RE: Local Subtitle Download - BlueberryJelly - 2025-04-08 Thank you for the suggestion. I just have been trying it on my Samsung Android tablet. A few observations to pass on. Yes, it automatically downloads the Closed Caption file. A plus for sure. -Issues with it are the closed captions have to be turned on every time you stop the movie. No big deal. -Closed captions size. The option is there to change the size, but it does not work. Default size it too large. -Cannot change default player. If you do not use default player un toggle mpv player, the video is black though the sound plays. I have MXplayer Pro installed which would be nice to use. The App has potential with a bit more development. |
