Windows security update Windows creates inetpub folder. Do not delete - paulc - 2025-04-14 Knowing many use Windows to self-host Jellyfin, I thought I would share that Windows released a security update that created an "inetpub" folder on the system drive. Microsoft warns users not to delete it, also. At first, this freaked me out when I saw it because I don't use IIS webserver and seeing that folder appear on my C drive out the blue made me investigate. It has all the normal folders, including logs and wwwroot. I thought I would pass that along in case anyone else sees it and starts fretting over why it suddenly appeared on their system drive. More info for MS here : https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/vulnerability/CVE-2025-21204 Quote:Are the updates for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems and Windows 10 for 32-bit Systems currently available? Do not delete - letraccoon - 2025-06-05 It’s good to know Microsoft is creating it intentionally as part of the security update, and that deleting it could cause issues. Thanks for sharing this heads-up! |
