Bulk Genre Editing - Mike Johnson - 2025-04-15 There are probably some very passionate feelings about genre assignments to media but I absolutely despise my media getting assigned 4+ genres. For me, media need a genre and a sub-genre at most and VERY occasionally three. I'm so sick of going through file after file and removing excessive genres. Yes, we all know that there is adventure, animation, family, romance, comedy, science-fiction, fantasy... etc.. etc.. in Toy Story but no one uses all of those to describe it. (Toy Story actually has 9 assigned Genres by IMDB) *** Please design an interface for bulk genre editing. There will probably need to be some additional systemwide configuration options but even if all you provide is an interface that removes all existing genres from the multi-selected media and assigns what is set by the dialog then that would be fine. *** The dialog could include a checkbox to acknowledge that the media will have all genres removed and reassigned with the selected genres I'd love a systemwide option to be able to ignore repository assigned genres so they don't get assigned at all but as simple or as complex as you want is fine. If genres are not pulled in there could easily be a genre of "no genre" so that the user could see what media had not been assigned a genre. please, I hope, in the future.. something ![]() |
