Unable to play HDR content on HDR capable TV - GoroMajima - 2025-04-18

Hello, I am unable to play HDR content on my HDR10 capable TV and unable to transcode to SDR when using my web browser or phone.
I have attached the ffmpeg log to my post. please let me know if something is missing.

TV model : Sony bravia 4k vh2
TV specs if needed : https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-55a80j/specifications

This is the media I was trying to play on my TV :
For the TV it does not try to transcode, it tells me that the media is compatible with my TV.

Additionally, the log you shared does not match your screenshots. You have tone mapping enabled, but the log does not indicate that it is tone mapping this HDR video. All transcoding of HDR video will result in tone mapping (for now).

Please reproduce the problem and ensure you share the corresponding ffmpeg log.

Unrelated, but still potentially a problem, you've checked too many codecs that your iGPU does not support.

Use the table at the link below to check the appropriate boxes. Use the Kaby Lake column.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video#Hardware_decoding_and_encoding

Additionally, you can check the "low power encoding" box for H264 only. NOT the HEVC low power encoding box.

Your iGPU cannot decode AV1. Uncheck that box. Nor can you encode to AV1, uncheck "Allow encoding in AV1 format".

And the log you share is the main jellyfin log. However, since it is direct playing there wouldn't be a ffmpeg log anyway.

Soooo, the file that is direct playing. Is it the same Dolby Vision video you were having issues with earlier?

Gotcha I unchecked for AV1, and yes it is the same video from the post.

No, it is not.

Can you clarify what you ARE seeing on the TV? You stated "unable to play", but that is vague.

Does ANYTHING come up on the TV? Or does only the audio play? Does it just crash the app?

Are you using an external player with Jellyfin? Or are you using VLC just to display the media info?
