Swcuriecurity for Remote Server and Chromecasts - Silver Nova - 2025-04-25 So I'm hosting a server for me and my partner. We're long distance so this is the easiest way for us to watch things together. I have heard very mixed things regarding security for Jellyfin. Some people say just changing the port and having strong passwords is enough that 99.9% of hackers will have zero interest, some people say it needs to be locked down regardless. My problem is my partner can only watch on a Chromecast so he doesn't have the option for getting Tailscan. I do close the server when we don't use it but I don't want my devices and network compromised. What are my option? Do I even need to do anything? My phone didn't autocorrect. I'm sorry for the horrific typo of "Security" RE: Swcuriecurity for Remote Server and Chromecasts - pxr5 - 2025-04-25 As Tailscale is not an option you're other choice is a Reverse Proxy. Here is a great guide on these very forums to set up Caddy: https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-access-your-jellyfin-anywhere-with-caddy My point of view is that I wouldn't expose anything to the internet without security. |
