missing art for my media - gmachine24 - 2025-04-28

Hi. I have two music libraries on my Jellyfin server v 10.10.6 running on Fedora 40. Previously, the first music folder under My Media showed a random image from an artist whose music was in that folder; then it switched to a generic image from I don't know where; the second library shows no image under libraries or on the Android Jellyfin program. I added/scanned the second library yesterday so it's new.

I know I can upload or choose a photo for each of these libraries and I know how to do that; but I'm sure this was handled automatically previously and I'm not sure what has changed. I don't think my version of Jellyfin has been updated recently - so I'm stumped.

This is a relatively minor issue, I realize. But I'd like to know what changed.

Thanks.

You can add an image named "folder.jpg" in each directory, and Jellyfin will use that image. You may need to refresh the metadata after doing so.

I know how to do that. Previously Jellyfin selected photos for background images etc. I'm not sure how I enabled that - but I didn't pick a specific image.

Most folders holding a music album have a folder.jpg file or cover.jpg etc. Are you saying if I select a folder.jpg file from one folder Jellyfin will select a different image for each album I play from its folder?

Thanks.
