Subtitles going off sync while watching - rs232 - 2025-05-03

I had this issue occasionally, but I can't identify a clear pattern, apart perhaps from the transcoding involvement.
Sometime watching something, the subs just declare independence and drift away from the dialogues.

It's a bit annoying because for foreign movies this means stop the movie 1/2 way.

Did anybody else experience this? Is there a solution workaround?

Thank you :-)

Are you using ASS subs? SRT is more compatible and doesn't require transcode.

That can occur if the video and subtitles aren't at same fps, ex: video is at 25fps but subtitles is at 24fps, then they drift with time.

I don't use video transcoding so never experience that

Thanks but not, I'm 100% on .srt. The rare times when I have an .ass convert them immediately to .srt.

Apologies, I'm not sure I understand your point.
Srt is pure text with time references in it (only). As I know at least they bring no understanding no FPS.
