Not scanning Shows on debian (rpi) - finestgreen - 2025-05-05

I've simultaneously installed jellyfin 10.10.7 on both Windows and a Debian raspberry pi, and given them the same settings and exact copies of library folders.

On the windows install, it's working fine - all seven episodes with the correct downloaded metadata.

On the rpi install, the TV show is showing up under "Shows" but then no episodes when I click on it.

Both installs have a music library that works fine.

On the rpi install, scanning the TV library doesn't show any log activity (ffprobe etc) but it does when the music library is rescanned. The Windows install logs ffprobes for both.

Any ideas?

What's the library folder setup on Linux? That is, what's the root folder, subfolder, etc... organization?

Further weird behaviour - I renamed the files to take out the "1983" and it showed S01E01 under "Episodes" but still nothing under "Shows"

When I played S01E1, it displayed a thumbnail for that episode and added a non-thumbnail icon for S01E02.  There was an ffprobe logged.

Trying to play S01E01 again I get a "Playback error: Unable to find a valid media source to play."

When I played S01E02 (and subsequent episodes) the pattern repeats - I can play it once, I get a thumbnail and the next episode but can't play that episode again.

The logs look like this:

RE: Not scanning Shows on debian (rpi) - bitmap - 2025-05-05

Did you make sure the user running the Jellyfin server has permission to access the media? You can chown -R user:group /path/to/media to change ownership of the files or chmod -R to add permissions to the user or group that owns the media. If that doesn't work, you can use chmod -R a+rx /path/to/media to set those permissions for all users.

Yes, not an access problem as it has intermittently managed to play each episode
