High RAM utilization - spacevolvo - 2025-05-06
I am new to jellyfin admin but not server admin in general so hopefully this will not sound too much like a rookie question.
The jellyfin server is currently only storing family pictures at the moment ... zero video so I am surprised to see the RAM utilization climbing as the server was being used.
Is this normal?

Can you try disable real time monitoring on all of your libraries and restart the vm to see if it improves things? I now suspect it is real time monitoring has to keep a lot of file handles to monitor every single file.

Check if you have MALLOC_TRIM_THRESHOLD_ variable set (systemd, docker...), also you can limit how much RAM jellyfin can use
