Organizing movies - Sasho_bg1 - 2025-05-09

Hello,

I've been dealing with "Jellyfin" for a few days.
I apologize in advance if this question has already been discussed, I haven't been able to find the information I need.

I installed it on Trunas and successfully configure it ( maybe Smiling-face ).
I have several TV series on the disk, which are organized into separate folders by season and individual episodes. Unfortunately, Jellyfin does not display the TV series in separate folders. It displays all the episodes together in one place on the TV screen.
Is there a way to better organize the view of the movies:
1. by TV series name
2. by season
3. by episode.

Many thanks in advance.

I don't really understand what you trying to do, but why not create multiple libraries?

And organize "movies by TV show" don't think that's available on any similar software

This means that I will have to create a library for each individual season. And what should I do with series that have 4-5 or more seasons, with 8-10 movies in them? There will be 30...50 movies view on TV.

I need some method to organize the entire collection so that I can visually find the movies by season. Also, searching by title is unacceptable.

You can create a series folder for series. In this series folder, you put a separate folder for each series. And put the seasons of the series in this folder.

I always do it like this, for example:

Folder with series name e.g.: ‘Big Bang Theory (2007)’
In the folder ‘Big Bang Theory (2007)’ I then have the folders for the seasons, which I number with S01, S02, S03, etc.

Jellyfin recognises the name of the series, and it also recognises the season names such as S01 etc. within this folder and then retrieves the information from the databases.
The episodes of the series should preferably also be numbered consecutively for proper recognition.
For example, episode 1 of the Big Bang Theory series should be numbered as follows:

‘Big Bang Theory S01E01’

Jellyfin also recognises this.

So you can click on the series folder on your TV and then select each individual series.

And as far as films are concerned, you could also put them in folders and assign them a genre. Then you would also have order there. For example, I sort by action, scifi, horror, animation, etc.
