Only certain shows for user - danmed - 2025-05-10
I'm slowly making the move from Plex and i'm having a problem replicating a use case.
My wife has her own profile and in Plex she can see all movies, but only TV shows labelled with her name (because that's all she's interested in).
I am currently using WatchState to sync the played state between Plex and Jellyfin.
I've seen that i can restrict her profile to only allow access to certain tags.. but that would mean i'd have to tag every movie aswell as her shows..
Am i missing something or am is this just not possible?

You can used the Block tags instead. Then go in to the show she does want to watch and tag it. Everything else will show up on her profile.

I'm not sure i understand...
I can see where to block tags.. but what tag am i meant to put in there?

For blocked tags you can enter any custom tag you want. So, for example, enter "My Wife She No Like" (read in a Borat voice) as a blocked tag. Then go to any show that she doesn't want to watch, edit the metadata, and create a new tag "My Wife She No Like". Any show with that custom tag you specified in blocked tags will no longer appear on her profile.

Ah ok.. well that means i have to apply a tag to like.. 500 tv shows... not sure that's viable.

Same concept for allowed tags, in reverse. Which ever way has the least amount of tagging.
You could also create two tv libraries and put the shows she likes in one and all the other ones the other. Then giver her access to only the library with her shows. This would mean sorting the series in your file manger into two separate folders.
