Player error encountered. Will re-try... - NicoRadioactive - 2025-05-16 Hello there, I just recently started using Jellyfin to access my media library from my fire stick and other devices. I first tried it out with a small part of my library on my main computer, an older Acer Nitro laptop and everything was working fine. My in-laws gave me their old desktop and I figured that I would use it as a server. I added my entire media collection on it but some of the shows/movies don't work including some that were working fine before. Other video work fine. I'm getting the error: Player error encountered. Will re-try... It retries a couple times then stops. Here's more info on my setup: Acer Veriton M4630G OS: Ubuntu Server 24.04.2 LTS CPU: Intel® Core i3-4130 CPU @ 3.40GHz RAM: 4GB DDR3 Video: VGA compatible controller 4th Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller driver=i915 Audio: Intel Corporation 8 Series/C220 Series Chipset High Definition Audio Controller (rev 05) Jellyfin Server: 10.10.7 Installed through command line as directed on the jellyfin website. Internet connected with Ethernet. Media collection is stored on a 2TB USB 3.0 external HDD. I tried acessing the videos on my phone app to see if it was an issue with my fire stick but the issue persists. Things I've tried: Followed the instructions here: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/post-install/transcoding/hardware-acceleration/intel/ Tried installing jellyfin-ffmpeg6 then Jellyfin-ffmpeg7 Tried enabling Video Acceleration API Tried various options with VAAPI Tried enabling external player (VLC) on fire stick app. Here are some of my Jellyfin log: https://pastebin.com/cna4xcjx That's just the last bit of it. The log seems to go on forever. I've been searching the web and found a lot of similar issues but the solution don't seem to work for me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. _________________________________ Update: I got the show in question working by converting the video files from .avi to .mp4 however I have a couple other shows that aren't working and some are .mp4 so I'll keep looking into this. RE: Player error encountered. Will re-try... - NicoRadioactive - 2025-05-18 It looks like my problems were basic file permissions issues from moving my collection between computers. |
