CPU 100% - GPU 0% - nasaspaceboy - 2025-05-20

I am relatively new to this setup and have been navigating my way through various forums, guides, and YouTube resources. However, I have encountered an issue that I have been unable to resolve.

Specifically, my GPU is not being utilized when playing media through Jellyfin. When I stream content directly on my NAS via a web browser, I can see the GPU activate, but this does not occur with Jellyfin—even when running four 4K streams simultaneously, with the CPU reaching 100% utilization. The GPU remains idle.

To troubleshoot, I have attempted playback across multiple clients, including Windows 11, Windows 10, iOS, Android, and Nvidia Shield, but the GPU still does not engage. I have confirmed that the container has the GPU option enabled, and I have tested hardware encoding both on and off without any noticeable difference.

Would anyone be able to suggest a possible fix for this issue?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

System Details:
  • NAS Model: URGEEN NAS DXP2800 (all drivers up to date)
  • Jellyfin Version: Running in a container via Docker 10.10.7

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Could you post your compose file or run command? As well as the output of vainfo from within the container?

I'm struggling to find how and where to find that file. Is is in my Jellyfin/config folder? I did say I was only on day 2 of this adventure. I feel like I'm totally out of my depth but I'm no quitter!
