Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - Background-Neat-8906 - 2023-10-01 Hello everyone. For a reason I can't explain, Jellyfin insists on getting the wrong metadata and images for some folders / files. I've tried including TMDB and IMDB IDs in the file and folder names but to no avail. For example, for a file named "Blur - Live 13 [themoviedbid-964899].m4v" it fetches metadata and images from "The South Bank Show: Blur" (TMDB ID 720469). Or, for a folder named "Pokémon [imdbid-tt0168366]" it gets metadata from "Pokémon Evolutions" (IMDB ID tt1535625. Jellyfin does get things right for most titles and folders but there are also numerous instances where it messes things up. Am I doing something wrong? I'm using Windows version 5.1.1 installed on a laptop. I know I should provide logs but I don't know which one to provide Any help is appreciated! RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - skribe - 2023-10-01 Even without any logs, 99 times out of 100, this is a matter of not using the necessary naming and organization convention, and not making sure that your organization aligns with your configured metadata sources. Make sure you're following the conventions here: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/shows/ And also here: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - Background-Neat-8906 - 2023-10-01 Many of the files/folders that follow the conventions correctly and indicate a TMDB or IMDB ID are still not being read correctly RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - skribe - 2023-10-01 If you are confident that your files match the conventions, then you should compare the data at your provider's site to your files and make sure that the organizational structure matches, and also check the selections and priorities of the providers for the library in question. What library type is this, also? RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - Background-Neat-8906 - 2023-10-02 I've been having this sort of problem both with Movies and Shows libraries. Most of the time I add a TMDB ID to the file or folder's name, and I've set TMDB as the priority provider for metadata (I sometimes add IMDB IDs too, but only when no TMDB ID is available). So file names check, organizational structure check, selections and priorities check. What's going wrong is still beyond me. Another example, from a Movie-type library. Main metadata provider: TheMovieDb File name: Inside Björk [themoviedbid-292085].m4v (ID in the filename was taken from the priority metadata provider) When the file is added to the library, Jellyfin identifies it as "Björk: Volumen Plus" (wrong title) and incorrectly fills in the metadata based on IMDd ID tt0476150 and TMDb ID 100551. RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - TheDreadPirate - 2023-10-02 We would need to see logs then. Pick a particular misidentified show, rescan and replace all metadata, share that log. Upload to pastebin and link it back here. Sanitize any WAN IPs. RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - Background-Neat-8906 - 2023-10-02 I just did it, but weirdly enough no logs seemed to be generated. Or I couldn't find any on the log folder in Program Data / Jellyfin. The logs I can find there have last been modified hours ago. I'm sorry if I'm too much of a newbie to this RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - tonyd - 2024-01-05 Hello, For some unknown reason some of my movie metadata mysteriously disappeared/reverted. That is, only on some movies, the metadata changed to being wrong. I'll give an example. An old movie from 1961 Mysterious Island. I had the correct metadata, which included name, year, IMDB and MovieDB #'s, etc. The images and poster were correct. Today, the poster is now in another language. It's "La Isla Misteriosa". There's no place in the Metadata page to specify language and I ripped it from a USA/English DVD. The filename is "Mysterious Island (1961) [imdbid-tt0055207].m4v". This is only one example. Another would be "The Nutty Proffessor (1963) [imdbid-tt0057372].mkv". The metadata that gets pulled is the 1996 version with Eddie Murphy. Even when I use the Identify method, Entering the Name, Year, and IMDB ID, it's pulling the wrong data. I could go on. I believe I'm following the suggested naming convention 'https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies' as suggested by @skribe. So I'm at a loss here. Any insight from the experts here would be valued. RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - TheDreadPirate - 2024-01-06 Can you share your logs with us? RE: Jellyfin keeps fetching wrong metadata and images - toasted-jelly - 2024-01-06 That has happened to me. I just turn off the 'update metadata' after I manually revert what it messes up. I think it has to do with the way it scrapes the data but I'm not sure. I found my fix and left it at that. |
